Jan Slagter and his fellow broadcasters at the NPO are cutting back on programming, but can’t they give up some salary themselves? No, they don’t want that. “Madness!”

There are many complaints at the public broadcaster about the budget cuts. One program after another is sacrificed, after which bobos and presenters are allowed to cry with Eva Jinek the same evening. But why does the knife go straight into the programming and is nothing done about those thick layers of management?

No wage sacrifice

Jan Slagter and other broadcasters also refuse to give up some of their princely salaries – they each take 233 thousand euros because that is the maximum. “The total cutback target for 2027 is 160 million. A salary sacrifice from the management will not solve that,” BnnVara said. RTL Z.

The umbrella organization NPO also believes that the management should not be caught. “There is no question of a wage sacrifice.”

Tina critical

TV authority Tina Nijkamp thinks it’s ridiculous. “MADNESS!!!! Keep whining about the cuts, but of course all directors don’t want to hand in ANYTHING THEMSELVES…” she shouts at her analysis channel.

“Wage sacrifice would be a good gesture, according to the unions, but hey: the at least 26 directors who each earn 233,000 euros (!!!) per year and drive a Range Rover or Tesla for free have no interest in that. And they keep complaining. ‘We are being hit deep in the heart.’ Sure. As long as it is not your own heart.”

Exasperating

A spy of Tina’s is also annoyed by it. He says: “Yes, this is exasperating. Really exasperating. And we program makers can all bleed… It’s bizarre that politicians do not intervene here.”

Tina: “Agree. This involves many millions per year in director salaries!!!”

Later, an inventory by Tina shows that there are 32 directors at the public broadcaster. “RTL has 8, Talpa 6…”

Impossible

It’s insane, says Tina, who was once the boss of SBS 6. “32 times a salary of 246,000 euros per year (WNT standard 2025) is 7,872,000 euros per year. That alone goes to directors at our public broadcasting system.
MADNESS!!! 32!!! To run a few TV channels, radio channels and a streaming service!!! Unacceptable!!!”

According to Tina, the Flemish public broadcaster has six directors. “What a difference!!!!”
