Jan Roos shows himself from a completely different side in an interview with Nieuwe Revu. He makes statements about Carlo Boszhard, Patty Brard and Tim Hofman that will sound bizarre to his followers.
Dutch celebrities hold their hearts when they are discussed in Gossip Talk. Jan Roos in particular is known for filleting stars to the bone. However, behind all that hysteria is also just ‘a grown man’, he says in conversation with New Revue† And that grown man turns out to be able to say nice things about celebrities outside Gossip Talk.
‘Carlo enormous talent’
It will sound bizarre to his loyal followers, but Jan speaks positively to journalist Andries Jelle de Jong about Carlo Boszhard, Patty Brard and Tim Hofman. While he’s dealt with each of them quite a bit over the past year, he also has appreciation for these stars.
He has by far the biggest conflict with Carlo. The RTL star has even filed a report against him for spreading rumors about transgressive behaviour. Yet Jan also respects him. “I think Carlo Boszhard is an enormous talent. His presentation and in De TV Kantine how he did that is unbelievably beautiful.”

That is precisely why, in his own words, Jan finds it difficult to tell such stories about Carlo. “It is a bit annoying when there are very nasty stories about someone. His story isn’t that serious, except that he can’t keep his hands to himself. Yes, that has been confirmed to us by several people.”
He continues: “What really matters is the story in Story. They were talking about an RTL presenter and they did not want to say who it was. They didn’t come up with that, so we announced that it was about Carlo Boszhard. Other than that, I have nothing against the man.”
Sweet woman
So he thinks Carlo is a great talent, but what does he think about Patty? “Yeah, that sweet woman hasn’t really done much wrong in her life. She does have some opinions, but that’s her business. Oh yes, I think she’s a sweet girl. She’s doing her best. I think she’s 72 and she’s doing really well. She is not a bad woman.”
Patty is not much of a fan of Jan. “I understand that she thinks I’m a dick, because I’ve said some unkind things, of course, but I think he’s a nice person.”

And what about Tim Hoffman? “I think Tim Hofman is a nice guy. I know him personally and he is a nice guy. It is of course a bit of an Amsterdam theatrical weeping willow in the form that he wants to wear skirts and earrings and paint his nails and such, but that’s part of it if you live there. Then you are nice and hip and confused. In the beginning, he’s just a really nice guy.”
However, Jan was at odds with Tim about his Televizier exclusion. “Tim has quite a knack for continuously acting as the moral compass of everything and everyone, but apparently not if it doesn’t suit him commercially. Then I think you’re hypocritical, but I’m not arguing with him.”
