Jan-Lennard Struff fails in the second round of the ATP Masters in Madrid. The Germans have a very special history associated with this tournament.
At the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid, 35-year-old Jan-Lennard Struff did not make it past the second round. The German tennis professional lost against the 33rd ranked American Alex Michelsen 2:6, 1:6 – in just 57 minutes.
Michelsen put Struff under pressure from the start and gave the veteran from Warstein hardly any options. In a difficult season so far, Struff celebrated his opening win against the French Alexandre Müller extensively.
Struff has something special in common with Madrid: in 2023 he reached the final – one of the greatest successes of his career. A year later he reached the round of 16. Both times he brought Carlos Alcaraz to the brink of defeat.
