Jan Jaap van der Wal gets a big punch in the face from TV-watching Netherlands. His comedy series Voor De Show is so poorly viewed that Tina Nijkamp is simply in shock. “Nightmare!”

It’s a good thing that all those TV bosses have agreed to shield the viewing figures a bit, because that has shifted the attention a bit. But yes, figures remain figures, and they show that Jan Jaap van der Wal is currently really writing TV history. He provides NPO 1 with unprecedentedly low viewing figures with the series Voor De Show.

Nightmare

Voor De Show, a drama series about the TV world, kicked off at the end of November with a measly 439 thousand viewers, and this appears to have never worked out again. In fact, things have only gone downhill for Jan Jaap and his friends. It’s so bad that TV authority Tina Nijkamp wrote one today story dedicates to her analysis channel.

Jan Jaap had his fourth episode last night and Tina puts the spotlight on its poor viewing figures. “A real nightmare at 9:30 PM. Jan Jaap van der Wal almost falls out of the top 50 with his NPO 1 program Voor De Show.”

‘Huh?!’

NPO 1 is the most watched TV channel in the country, with the Achuurjournaal as the daily climax, which 1.3 million people watched yesterday. How many did Jan Jaap have an hour and a half later? “This program is declining further every week, even ratings stunner Ruben Nicolai yesterday could not save the score: 228 thousand viewers. Huh? On NPO 1 indeed.”

Ruben had a guest role in the program, but everyone missed that. The commercial target group also scored dramatically poorly, with only a 2.8 percent market share among 25 to 54 year olds.

Blunder

The AvroTros and the makers are blundering terribly, Tina thinks. “Really sad for all the makers, but I think it reminds the viewer too much of Five Live.”

Five Live was also a series about the TV world, but the Linda de Mol series failed mercilessly. Just like For The Show. “Almost everything scored better, even the quiz 50/50 on SBS 6 at 6:30 PM: 236 thousand for Kim-Lian van der Meij. Good morning Netherlands in the morning at 8:10 also had higher viewing figures than Jan Jaap: 234 thousand.”

Nonchalant

So really, really bad. Jan Jaap himself responded very clichéd to his horror figures two weeks ago. “With new things, I think you should always give it a chance, you just have to look: what do these people do and why do they do it, how does that develop? At least I grew up in that time.”

“It’s an incredibly fun program, it really is.”
