James Franco’s role was enraged – Fidel Castro’s daughter commented

Fidel Castro’s daughter has taken a stand on the casting of James Franco.

American actress James Franco was chosen to play the iconic Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro Alina of Cuba -to a novelty film.

The choice of the American Franco for the role has aroused indignant reactions among the South American actors.

Daughter of the now deceased Castro, anti-communist activist Alina Fernández has said that he supports the casting of the American Franco in the film, reports Entertainment Weekly.

According to Fernández, apart from Franco, the production is almost entirely South American.

– It is clear that James Franco’s physical nature resembles Fidel Castro without forgetting his skills and charisma, Fernández commented to Deadline magazine.

– I think the choice of actors is really great.

Alina of Cuba based on actual events. The film depicts Fernández’s flight from his homeland, having criticized the Cuban government and his father’s rule.

The film stars Ana Villafañe as Fernández. Plays Fernández’s mother and Castro’s mistress From Natalia Revue.

Franco’s role has been commented on by, among others, the Emmy-awarded South American actor John Leguizamo. According to Leguizamo, a Latino actor should have been chosen for the role.

Also an Argentinian actor Sol Rodriguez expressed his opinion about the casting. Rodriguez said that he was discriminated against because of his ethnic background and that he was upset that Franco had to learn a Latino accent for his role.

The film is directed by the Spanish Miguel Bardem.

– The filmmakers have worked hard, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the inclusive working group, Fernández said.

– For me, the most important thing in this film is that the conversation about Cuba continues. The experience has been personally unexpected so far, but most of all it has made me humble.
