Jacobs closes the AZ door behind him and chooses Almere City

Joey Jacobs makes the switch to Almere City FC with immediate effect. The 21-year-old Purmerender has played his matches for Jong AZ since 2017. The defender’s contract expired next summer.

In 2011, Jacobs made the switch from FC Purmerend to the youth academy of AZ. On October 12, 2018, Jacobs played his first professional football match for the reserves of the Alkmaarders. He would then make 65 more appearances. This season the counter already stood at seventeen duels and he was a permanent force in the team of Maarten Martens.

Almere City

It never came to a debut in the main force of AZ. Jacobs comes to play soccer at Almere City Alex Pastor. The football coach from Groet succeeded the fired Gertjan Verbeek at the team from Flevoland last December. Jacobs has signed a two and a half year contract with the current number nineteen of the first division.
