Jack Wilshere is apparently negotiating his first coaching job at professional level. Like the portal “The Athletic“ reports that the 31-year-old ex-professional is in talks with the Colorado Rapids from Major League Soccer. The Englishman ended his active career last summer and has since gained his first coaching experience with Arsenal FC’s U18s. In his debut season he led the team to the final of the FA Youth Cup.
The Rapids, which, like the “Gunners”, belong to the “Kroenke Sports & Entertainment” group, have had a vacancy in the head coach position since Robin Fraser left at the beginning of September. The 56-year-old looked after the club in 129 games and scored an average of 1.34 points. According to the report, the US franchise has already made a formal request to Arsenal to negotiate with Wilshere, who is said to have impressed during his interview. At the age of 31, he would be the youngest coach in the MLS.
Wilshere is understood to be keen to move into the front row of coaching if the right opportunity arises and has also attracted interest from other clubs. The Rapids are at the bottom of the Western Conference with a record of five wins, eleven draws and 16 defeats.
