Albert Verlinde finds Angela de Jong’s criticism of top skater Jutta Leerdam ridiculous. “I am furious about this,” the show expert fumes in RTL Tonight. “This is Talibangela de Jong!”
Jutta Leerdam’s attitude divides the country. She may have won gold at the Winter Olympics, but it’s really more about what’s going on around her. “What I’m against is mainly the way she presents herself,” says AD opinion diva Angela de Jong in the podcast Join the conversation with AD.
Creepy boyfriend
What irritates Angela? “First of all, that boyfriend who I find quite scary, I have to be very honest, but also the example she sets for young girls online. She has a huge fan base that we can all only dream of; that is of course very clever.”
She continues: “But I think it is very old-fashioned if, as a woman, you still use your body for this nowadays, while this is someone who can do something and, in my opinion, above all shows that you can suffer and skate very fast, so you can really achieve something in that area.”
Ass up
Jutta positions herself incorrectly, Angela thinks. “I think it’s a shame that every video I see of it has to raise that ass and purse those lips or you name it. Or open that zipper on the suit. I think that really harkens back to the years, well, you name it, where we have to go again.”
And Albert Verlinde finds that ridiculous. “I’m furious about this,” he says RTL Tonight. “We have experienced emancipation. The women have fought to be who they are and then there is a woman, Jutta, who is finding her own place in the skating world.”
Talibangela
Albert thinks what Jutta has achieved is very clever. “She thinks: I can do business myself and generate my publicity and put teams together around me. She can be who they are and – Angela also talked about that – be a farmer’s wife from the north who is skating. ‘I am who I am,’ she says.”
“And then Talibangela de Jong goes on to say how women should live. I really think it’s so bad,” he fumes.
