Victor Vlam, the male equivalent of Angela de Jong, has been bashed very hard by the men of Today Inside. They don’t think he’s knowledgeable enough. “It’s not right!”
TV experts who express an opinion about Today Inside generally do not fare well with the gentlemen at the table. Rob Goossens has been called ‘unscrupulous’, they are getting ‘tired’ of Tina Nijkamp and now it is Victor Vlam’s turn. Just at the time when he is experiencing a major growth spurt in terms of PR and also regularly appears on the stage in RTL Boulevard.
Sheer nonsense
Johan Derksen is annoyed by Victor, who became known as an American expert, but now mainly makes the news as a TV expert. “I’m also so annoyed… If you look on the internet and read some things and so on, the news, I always read about Victor Vlam. Victor Vlam, or not? He is a self-proclaimed media expert, but he only talks nonsense.”
What makes Johan so excited? He continues Today Inside: “He keeps reporting day in and day out that John de Mol is interfering with the guests at the table, that he would like left-wing guests and that is why Mrs. Marijnissen was at De Oranjewinter and so was Pechtold. That’s complete nonsense.”
Leftward course
Victor states that John de Mol, as a channel owner, benefits from reaching as many people as possible and that he therefore does not want SBS 6 to be too right-wing populist. Sounds plausible, but the statement that John must therefore also have influenced the guest list of the Hélène Hendriks show De Oranjewinter is bullsh*t, according to Johan.
Johan: “I think De Mol can be blamed for everything, we don’t have to feel sorry for that, but it’s just wrong. That man has never sat down with a single guest…”
Pilot light
Albert Verlinde interrupts Johan, because he is apparently also annoyed by Victor. “He shouts all kinds of things!” Yes, that doesn’t bother Albert… “He is also very small. Have you ever seen him, Victor Vlam? It’s more like a flame! He is very small! A pilot light! It’s really terrible.”
Raymond Mens, who owes his current Talpa contract to Victor, then from the bar stool: “Can I break in for a moment? There is nothing wrong with short men, I just want to say.”
Wilfred: “But if they have a big mouth of course!”
‘Calls all kinds of things’
What exactly does Albert think of Victor? “He shouts everything every day, he thinks he knows everything and why? Because he hopes people will listen to his podcast.”
Well, does Albert mean that? Is that how it works?!?! Would VI do that too, that they shout things in the hope that people will watch? What a revelation!
Johan: “He is still very satisfied with it.”
Wilfred: “He has succeeded now, because we are talking about it.”
And that is of course a great honor, Wilfred wants to say.
“It’s not like that!”
Johan disqualifies Victor. “It’s just incorrect, wrong information. It is not so.”
Albert: “He was at Shownieuws and he was kicked out. Who knows, maybe he has had some kind of trauma towards John de Mol or something since then. (…) He shouts all sorts of things.”
Wilfred: “Yes, but it is often not right. No, well, that can happen.”
What does Victor say?
What Victor has to say about it? “I’m 1 meter 80. That’s not that small, is it? 😂,” he writes on X.
Journalists have more appreciation for Victor and his colleague Lars Duursma, who together produce the well-known podcast De Communicado’s. “The men give an excellent analysis in the podcast,” says Telegraaf presenter Wilson Boldewijn, for example, about their Khalid Kasem theory.
“Completely agree,” said investigative journalist Ton F. van Dijk.
