The new tango king is a cantor by civilian profession.
When Pasi Flodström27, got in Saturday’s tango final Lago Maggiore after singing, the Seinäjoki arena exploded. The man clearly had the biggest cheering crowd in the stands.
– A hundred people from the Harjavalta parish had come to Seinäjoki, even the vicar seemed to be there, Flodström says.
– The fans warmed the heart a lot, he continues.
The recent tango king has the position of cantor in Harjavalta parish, which explains the priest’s presence.

Dreams come true
The master of music, who graduated from the Sibelius Academy, received praise from the judges for his personal, distinctive voice in the tango final.
– I have had two dreams: to become a cantor and a tango king. Now both dreams have come true, Flodström is happy.
He gave interviews to the press on Sunday morning after sleeping for an hour. However, fatigue was not visible from the crown end.
– I went to tango street to sing, met tango people and enjoyed the atmosphere. And of course I celebrated! When I finally got into bed, I started going through the congratulatory messages on my cell phone. I haven’t had time to read them all yet, Flodström tells about his first moments as tango king.
The man describes himself as a versatile singer who smiles and loves stage dancing. He has made music from the parish priest’s work to opera.
– In my work, I have also been dealing with people of really different ages, which is certainly useful as a tango king, the man says.
Flodström has taken stage dance courses, so he can not only perform for dancers but also dance himself.
– Performing for the public is exactly what I want to do even after the year of tango reign, says Flodström.

On vacation
The tango judges also praised Flodström for the fact that he feels at home on stage.
– I’ve been really shy. It’s crazy that now I’m singing and performing in public. I am proud of my development, says the tango king.
The man from Kanttori’s pesti will now be on leave for the time being, as the gigs will start right next week.
Flodström has a spouse, a Tibetan spaniel and two lion-maned rabbits. He lives in Harjavalla in a hundred-year-old detached house, which takes a lot of work to put together.
