RTL 4 is already intervening with the poorly viewed RTL Tonight: the bombastic voice-over has been removed from the intro, the role of the presenter has been enlarged and most sections are gone. “Half -baked solution.”

The management of RTL 4 cannot ignore it: the new late talk show RTL Tonight is a flop and intervention is pure necessity. That happened last night: the Sunday edition, which is presented by Renze Klamer, already looked much more like the late talk show until this summer. The only thing that is missing is a comfortable talk show table.

Embarrassing leadershots

TV critic Victor Vlam finds it striking. “As everyone saw: RTL Tonight has been overhauled. It feels more like the old RTL talk show because the people on the Desk, including Renze, have a more important role. Much fewer sections but more room for the conversations at the Desk,” he writes down X.

He continues: “Furthermore, the program feels a bit less American. The much too enthusiastic voice-over can no longer be heard in the intro. The expensive but embarrassing leadershots of the clients have disappeared. The Dutch viewer sees all that adornment and not authentic.”

Half -baking

Victor thinks RTL should go back to the old model. “Are all those adjustments enough to save the program? It is an improvement, but it is also a half -baked solution. Take me the old talk show.”

Why did the channel line thought that it would be a good idea to make a kind of mix between RTL Boulevard and a regular talk show? “Great madness. They thought they could reinvent the wheel.”

Sanctuary

TV authority Tina Nijkamp also saw it immediately. “Hey, only a week old, but RTL Tonight is already back to what it was like. The adornment (and weird intro) has already disappeared. This is exactly a copy of Renze on Sunday. With Frits, Anna, Erben and Robert. They were often a guest there,” she writes on her analysis canal.

She continues: “Only the role of the guest of the day (sidekick) misses. Better this. Now that the table is back 😅 and then it is really exactly how it was. That went fast.”

Brainstorming

Tina thinks all those TV bobos have overestimated themselves. “Months of brainstorms with all kinds of hotemetots, many pilots later, many extra tons for decor, light and expensive exclusive experts and then after one week back to how it was. Only the audience in the picture and the cozy table is missing. The desk is so much more uncomfortable.”

She concludes: “What a bombing of nothing all. A bit embarrassing too. Even a Kwebbel-B & B topic is already in the line-up.”

469 thousand people watched the broadcast.
