With the victory on the second day of the European Championship against Sweden, the U19 national team has earned the pass for Poland 2026. Gravina: “Girls who are writing the story”

After 13 years of absence from the only participation, Italy returns to qualify for the women’s U20 World Championship. The merit is of the U19 national team led by Nicola Matteucci, who on the second day of the European Championship (in Poland) beat Sweden 1-0 thanks to the goal of Giada Pellegrino Cimò. According to the center in two games for the attacker owned by Rome, who thus signs the arithmetic conquest of one of the five places intended for Europe in the World Championship which will always be hosted in Poland in 2026. “These girls are writing the history – commented the FIGC Gravina president -, going to the World Cup is an exceptional goal that testifies to the exponential growth of our female movement”. In the long summer that will lead to the European Championship in Switzerland for Soncin’s major national team, it should be remembered that the U17 had already hit the qualification for its World Cup. In the current European U19, however, Italy now aims at the semifinal: to hit it, it will be enough not to lose Saturday with the very strong France (already qualified), in the event of defeat it would continue the overall goal difference (to date, in favor of the blue).
