Tall of Italy sings Sanremo. But what kind of Italy is being sung in Sanremo? By now the songs will have entered your ears and you will have your favorites. Therefore, refraining from judgments on the songs as a whole, let’s focus on the competing lyrics. There are at least three artists who, avoiding the tired sentimental theme, offer some brushstrokes on our country: Sayf, Maria Antonietta and Colombre, Ditonellapiaga.

Despite the title, I like you a lotthe song by Sayf, 26 years old, an Italian-Tunisian rapper from Genoa, outlines a country full of contradictions: Italy is “that great action by Cannavaro” but also the one “sadly known for some facts” that we downplay. That of the entrepreneur who said: “Italy is the country I love” (Silvio Berlusconi, ed) and that of “Tenco who died nearby”, but “do not be afraid, my love, I will do better for our son: I will crush those of others” (Sic!).

Maria Antonietta (38 years old) and Colombre (43 years old), a couple in life too, joke about “the supermodel with splendid skin” who from the Caribbean beach preaches: «Be yourself, everything will be fine», comfortably lying on a “white leather chaise longue” where “your life doesn’t tire you”. All this while we struggle to “keep our heads high”, but through no fault of our own. And then happiness “we just take it”.

Ditonellapiaga, alias Margherita Carducci (29 years old), on the other hand is having fun. His song How annoying! report everything that causes hives: the fashion of Milan, the Roman snob, the American dream, the Italian politician, the tribal music, the dogs at customs, the pilates course, the healthy lunch, the careerists, the “respectable journalists”, the tronistas presented as artists, the national anthem at the piano bar, the F24 and Spam.

A note of merit for sincerity goes to Fedez (with Marco Masini)who doesn’t speak about Italy, but in what seems like a message to his son, writes: “My problems will now be the part of you that is the most vulnerable and ruthless.” But also: “Every father begins as if he were a God. But then he ends up becoming an alibi”. How much material, tomorrow, for the psychoanalyst.
