Fabio Fognini/Simone Bolelli secured the decisive point for the 2:1 success with a 6:4, 6:4 in the final doubles match against Tommy Paul/Jack Sock. Italy is playing for the final for the first time since 2014.

The Italians, who compete in Spain without their top players Matteo Berrettini and Jannik Sinner, took the lead with a 6: 3, 7: 6 (9: 7) by Lorenzo Sonego against US Open semi-finalist Frances Tiafoe.
