Italy: Consumers and companies more pessimistic

The mood of Italian consumers and companies deteriorated in September.

The consumer climate fell by 1.1 points to 105.4 points compared to the previous month, as the statistics office Istat announced on Thursday in Rome. Analysts’ expectations were only slightly missed.

Corporate sentiment deteriorated by 1.8 points to 104.9 points. In industry, the indicator fell by 1.3 points to 96.4 points. That was slightly below analysts’ expectations. The mood also deteriorated in retail and among service providers, but it brightened slightly in construction. (dpa)
