It starts with the Italo-Pop input for you!
Italy for everyone
Ricchi e Poveri “Made in Italy” (1982)
Friendly, grippy and to the point. At the latest with this song, the next stage of the Italo-Pop enthusiasm ignites in the 1980s. Countless songs and, above all, compilations will follow in this phase.
Alice “Per Elisa” (1981)
With this song, Alice once won the renowned Sanremo Festival, which in Italy chooses contemporary music every year. Based on Beethoven’s “for Elise”, the title Alice also made the breakthrough in Germany. She performed it in the music comedy show “Bananas”.
Gianna Nannini / Edoardo Bennato “Un’estate Italiana” (1989)
It may be the face of the Italo pop. Still active today, Nannini whirled up early in the music culture. On her self -titled debut album, she addressed topics such as masturbation and abortion. “Un’estate Italiana” was the official World Cup song in 1990, composed by Giorgio Moroder.
Adriano Celentano “Una Festa Sui Prati” (1967)
His very big hit, of course, remains “Azzurro”, but a year before that, the native of Milan also reached the charts in Germany. The song title means “a party on the lawn”.
Paolo Conte “Via Con me” (1981)
Paolo Conte never made it into the official charts in Germany, but its radiance and elegance should also be undisputed here. In this piece, his connection to jazz can be seen. Conte is traded as a cantautore – i.e. as a song poet.
Måneskin “Zitti e Buoni” (2021)
With this song, they not only won the Sanremo Festival already mentioned, but shortly afterwards also the ESC. Måneskin are now among the most influential Italian pop exports and tours far beyond their home country. Incidentally, the title means “quiet and good”.
