The contracts of Pausini and Cattelan are said to have already been signed, but the deal with Mika is not yet complete. His name has been around for months as a possible presenter of the Song Contest. The Italian organization would have chosen this trio because of their familiarity and knowledge of the English language.
Pausini is best known in Belgium for her hits ‘La Solitudine’ from 1993 and ‘Strani Amori’ from 1994. Mika is originally from Lebanon, but settled in Great Britain at a young age. In 2007 and 2008 he had a string of hits worldwide including ‘Grace Kelly’ and ‘Relax, Take It Easy’. In Italy he already had his own TV show and was on the jury of ‘X Factor’. Cattelan presented ‘X Factor’ in the land of pasta and pizza for years. Last year, the 41-year-old presenter made the switch to broadcaster Rai, which is organizing the Eurovision Song Contest this year.
