Atlético Madrid has provoked laughter online with a series of messages on
For days, Atlético striker Álvarez has been heavily linked with a move to FC Barcelona. The Catalan top club would even be willing to pay 100 million euros for the Argentinian. And while Atlético has already indicated several times that the Argentinian is not for sale.
The Madrid top club is now fed up and has reported to X. “Within minutes we will release a statement on an important issue about which there is a lot of misinformation circulating,” it said.
Fans expected a statement on the website, but it turned out to be three tweets with a big wink. The club reports that it has made an offer for Barça star players Lamine Yamal, Pedri and Raphinha. With the ‘Here we go’ caption from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. Of course, the images were generated with AI.
Atlético is furious
In an additional statement opposite Mundo Deportivo Atlético explained the posts. ‘It may seem like a joke or a bit humorous, but this is very serious. We have been furious with FC Barcelona for a while now. We wanted to hold a mirror up to them.’ The club accuses Barça of fake news, among other things.
For example, a bid was allegedly leaked to the media that had not been made at all, and the El Chiringuito program was called in to make a video of Álvarez’s agent during an FC Barcelona dinner. ‘What is clear: we hold the cards. The player is protected with a buyout clause of 500 million euros. THE PROBLEM IS BARCELONA.’
The offers
However, the offers do not appear to be very generous. The club writes this about prodigy Yamal: ‘We have sent a fax to FC Barcelona with our transfer offer: 4 tickets for the Bad Bunny concert, a year’s subscription to the ABC and a bag of sunflower seeds. We are eagerly awaiting the answer to prepare the announcement.’
Pedri is offering six tickets for Bad Bunny’s concert on Sunday, ‘because the tickets for Saturday have run out’.
And a bid is also made for Raphinha. ‘And to complete the 3-for-1 deal, we’ve gotten completely carried away and are throwing the ball around: the player comes on loan for one season and in return we send Tom Ford and Smith away on loan, with no option to buy. An offer you can’t refuse.’
Spanish media are convinced that Álvarez will make the switch. Atlético, however, does not seem to agree…
