As the voice of the program Race Across The World, Martijn Krabbé arouses quite a bit of irritation with Marc-Marie Huijbregts. “His tone is just wrong. It’s that whiny all the time.”
Marc-Marie Huijbregts is a great fan of the TV show Race Across The World, in which celebrity couples travel through Latin America with limited resources. The presenter and the voice of the program is Martijn Krabbé, but Marc-Marie is not particularly enthusiastic about him.
Marc-Marie critical
In fact, Marc-Marie gives Martijn a big slap on the wrist for the way he plays the voice-over. “There are two things I criticize about this program, but it’s out of love because I love it. I really think it’s a good program,” he says in his podcast ‘Marc-Marie and Jan are not afraid of anyone‘.
The first point of criticism is that Marc-Marie finds the editing sloppy, because ‘things are not finished very clearly’. “But my biggest criticism of the program: I can’t stand the tone of the voice-over very well.”
Nasty and ironic
Martijn misses the mark as a voice-over, thinks Marc-Marie. “That irony of Martijn Krabbé, who does everything ironically… Everything with distance, everything with… I just think that was the wrong choice. I like Martijn and I also know Martijn and he is a very nice man and also very good at his profession and stuff, so it is not all that, but I think the tone…”
“That ironic… When something really beautiful happens, like with that Olga Commandeur and that Frank and stuff, then that nagging, ironic tone stays. And I think that sometimes in such a program you… That the tone is just wrong in the program.”
Alcoholic Bastian
Earlier, Marc-Marie also criticized one of the candidates in the TV show, namely Bastiaan Ragas. He has been portrayed by the comedian as half an alcoholic.
