A new arrest warrant has been issued against Shia LaBeouf – the actor is now facing a third charge of simple assault, which goes back to an incident in New Orleans.

Earlier this week, LaBeouf was ordered to take a drug test and return to rehab after he was arrested for punching two people outside a bar in New Orleans during Mardi Gras weekend.

Although LaBeouf initially avoided prison time in this case, Louisiana station 4WWL reports that the New Orleans Police Department has now issued a new arrest warrant for a third case of simple assault – related to another victim from the same fight outside the R Bar.

Aggressive escalation at Mardi Gras

LaBeouf was arrested on Feb. 17 after law enforcement officials say he “caused trouble” and behaved increasingly “aggressively” before punching two people in a fight outside a bar near the French Quarter. According to a police report, LaBeouf shouted homophobic slurs at those involved. Shortly after his arrest and release without bail, LaBeouf was seen continuing to party on Bourbon Street.

At a hearing earlier this week, Orleans Parish Criminal Court Judge Simone Levine publicly reprimanded LaBeouf, saying he didn’t seem to take his “alcohol addiction seriously” and that she doubted he had “control over his drinking.” Additionally, Levine rejected LaBeouf’s request to travel to Rome in March for “religious occasions” – including his father’s baptism.

“This court does not believe it understands how serious these allegations are,” Levine said, adding that LaBeouf’s behavior raises concerns about “the safety of the broader community, particularly as it relates to a marginalized LGBTQ+ community that has already suffered so much terror.”

Previous allegations and sobriety promises

LaBeouf, who was not charged, avoided prison time by agreeing to treatment and posting $100,000 bail. The actor has been open about his alleged sobriety in the past, revealing in 2020 that he was in therapy and participating in a 12-step program – after FKA Twigs accused him of physically, emotionally and psychologically abusing her during their relationship.

Months before LaBeouf’s arrest, his increasingly erratic behavior had already caused concern on the set of his upcoming film “The Rooster Prince,” according to production sources, Rolling Stone reported. “He was completely out of it,” said a production member who worked on the film set in Oklahoma in November. “I don’t think he’s stable. I don’t think he has been for a while.”
