Eli Iserbyt was sitting on his victory this season. He only won two competitions: the World Cup in Antwerp and the Grand Prix Sven Nys in Baal. His season was mainly about the famous Piriformis syndrome. That problem should be solved by next season, he says. “After the season we look for a solution. The intention is to work on it all summer and then to be back on my best next season.”
In addition to the bad luck of Iserbyt, Pauwels sauces had a great season with Michael Vanthourenhout. He won two World Cupmanches and also won the final classification.
Pauwels sauces had both the European and Belgian champion jersey in the last two years, but had to give both of them to Thibau Nys. Next season they want to work on that again. “If we can keep the performance of Eli and Michael constant again next year, I think we’re going to get a good season,” says Jurgen Mettensingen.
