Rye bread is close to Finns’ hearts, it is our national dish. Good thing, because rye and whole grain are important for health and the heart. According to national nutritional recommendations, you should eat at least 90 grams of whole grain products per day.

Fazer’s announcement reminds us that bread is an easy way to enjoy whole grains.

International Whole Grain Day will be celebrated tomorrow, November 19, in honor of which the world’s largest rye bakery in Lahti baked the world’s largest rye Puikula. This giant weighs no less than seven kilograms.

It is 80 times larger than a normal Puikula. Ennätys-Puikula has handsome dimensions: weight 7062 grams, length 87 centimeters and width 51 centimeters.

– We want to increase domestic bread production, and in April we introduced a new rye bread line at the Lahti bakery. Whole grain bread is produced at Linjast, which supports our goal of increasing the share of whole grain bread in our selection, says the CEO of Fazer Leipomoin Marko Bergholm in the bulletin.

According to bread information, Finns eat the most rye in the world, i.e. around 15 kilos per person annually. Rye bread is eaten around 14 kilos per person each year.

The world’s largest Puikula is served in Lahti at a common table for Fazer’s staff.
