Is tennis icon Boris Becker commenting from prison? Management refuted

Boris Becker has to spend the next time in prison. Last Friday, the tennis legend was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for bankruptcy offenses. Most recently, the three-time Wimbledon winner was active as a TV expert for Eurosport. According to an old companion, the station is working on a sensation.

“The management of Eurosport is currently clarifying with Becker’s lawyers whether it is possible to set up a home studio for Boris in prison,” said Frank Wörndl in “View“.

Interesting words, but they probably have nothing to do with reality. The Becker management confirmed RTL that it was a false report.

It is highly unlikely that Becker will be able to work as an expert in prison. Cell phones are banned in prison, Becker is only allowed to call his family members under very specific rules, as lawyer Kyle Phillips (who knows Becker’s lawyer) explained in the RTL interview.

Setting up a “TV studio” in Becker’s cell would be a huge extra – and Wandsworth is not known for extra sausages.

The former alpine skier Wörndl has known the tennis icon for a long time. In the 1990s, Becker and Wörndl worked together at Völkl. In recent years, the two ex-athletes have been active at Eurosport.

“In his sporting heyday, I experienced Boris as a fairly unapproachable person at various events,” Wörndl said of his relationship with Becker: “But in the meantime I got to know him from a very warm side at Eurosport.”

Wörndl describes loving Becker encounters

The 1987 slalom world champion cited an example from last January. “I took my six-year-old daughter to the studio on a Saturday. Shortly before I went on the air, Boris ended his broadcast from the Australia Open and then talked to her very lovingly,” revealed Wörndl.

According to media reports, Becker has to serve half of his prison sentence behind bars. As reported by “Sport Bild”, citing lawyer Paul Vogel, who has represented several celebrities in criminal proceedings in Great Britain, the 54-year-old could be released in six months.
