It would be a disaster for SBS 6 if Wilfred Genee and his Vandaag Inside colleagues return to RTL. The obvious successor, Hélène Hendriks, is currently unavailable.

Johan Derksen has revealed that Wilfred Genee has requested permission to speak with RTL boss Peter Lubbers. The men of Vandaag Inside have spent years at RTL, and their contract with Talpa is nearing its end. For Wilfred, much is at stake, as he is aware that Johan is 77 years old. Their departure would indeed be catastrophic for Talpa.
Hélène’s Unavailability
Hélène Hendriks, widely considered the natural successor to Vandaag Inside, will not be available to take over for the next four years. The presenter exclusively commits to Talpa this summer but will maintain part-time roles. She will also be working at Ziggo Sport.
This means going daily on air with her Oranje-talkshow is simply not feasible. “No, that’s not an option, as I have many broadcasts in the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League at Ziggo Sport. So that can’t happen. For the next four years, that is definitely off the table,” she stated in an interview.
“Then It’s Over!”
Can Vandaag Inside continue without Johan? Hélène doesn’t think so. “It’s the combination of the three of them that makes it a golden trio. That has been the case for years. If one of them is gone, then, well, it will be different. I’ve also hosted VI before, and it went perfectly well,” she adds.
However, she believes that the dynamic between Wilfred and Johan is essential for the show. “I think in the long run, the tension Wilfred brings compared to Johan is something that you just need because it keeps things exciting. This is largely left to those two. René is also a crucial factor with his unique perspective and humor, making the three of them a golden combination.”
“If you remove one, then it’s done.”
Desire for Change
Does Hélène see herself in the future as the leading talk-show host for SBS 6, potentially leaving her work at Ziggo Sport? “I always assess opportunities cyclically, looking at what’s currently relevant and what suits me personally. I thrive on variety, so right now, I feel absolutely content,” she explained.
However, it is not a must for her. “It has never been — as everyone thinks — an ambition to host a talk show. I’ve taken it on and love it, but it was never a childhood dream to host one,” she concluded.
