In Antalya, Iran defeated Costa Rica 5-0 in a friendly. With a brace from former Inter player Taremi and goals from Gholizadeh, Mohebi and Ghaedi. During the anthem the players showed photos of the children killed in the February 28 air raid on the school in the city of Minab, which killed at least 170 students and teachers.

“It was a pleasure to meet the players of the Iran national football team before their friendly match against Costa Rica in Antalya,” Infantino wrote. “I had the opportunity to spend time with the players, as well as Mehdi Mohammed Nabi, first vice president of the Islamic Republic of Iran Football Federation; Omid Jamali, head of the federation’s international relations; and coach Amir Ghalenoei.”
