TEHRAN (dpa-AFX) – Against the backdrop of the war, the Iranian government is expelling 1,200 citizens of the United Arab Emirates. Their residence permits have been revoked, the online portal Nurnews reported, citing the judiciary. They were instructed to leave Iran within a week. The Emirates had previously forced Iranians to leave the country.
The already tense relations between Iran and the Emirates escalated after the start of the war. Since then, the Iranian armed forces have fired almost daily at targets in the Gulf state as part of their retaliatory attacks./arb/DP/stw
