The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has withdrawn the Olympic medal from Russian President Vladimir Putin (69) after the invasion of Ukraine.
The IOC around President Thomas Bach decided to take this step because of the “extraordinary circumstances” surrounding the war in Ukraine with the serious violation of the Olympic Truce and “other violations of the Olympic Charter”, as it said in a statement on Monday. Putin was awarded the medal in 2001.
