The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case due to the use of the Tochka-U tactical missile system in Donetsk, declared on the website of the department.

“On this fact, the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 356 of the Criminal Code (ill-treatment of the civilian population; the use in an armed conflict of means and methods prohibited by an international treaty of the Russian Federation),” the message says. The maximum sentence under this article is 20 years.

The Investigative Committee accused “Ukrainian nationalists” of using the rocket. According to the investigation, on March 14, the Armed Forces of Ukraine used Tochka-U with a cluster charge against civilian infrastructure facilities on Universitetskaya and Artem streets in Donetsk.

According to the UK, 23 people died, including women and children. Another 18 received injuries of varying severity.
