Investigation message: man collects money in Veurne with stolen card
On Saturday, January 21, 2023 around 3:30 p.m., an 84-year-old woman entered the bank in Drongen. Surveillance footage shows that as the victim put her card in the machine, an unknown man entered the office. He went to the second machine. He then left the machine and stood behind the victim to look over her shoulder. A little later he came even closer and spoke to her in French. He stepped back again and the victim resumed her operations. The woman did not realize that the suspect was watching. The man spoke to her several times and also performed various actions on her machine. In one of the acts, the suspect stole the victim’s bank card. He went to the second machine again and withdrew 1000 euros in cash with the stolen card.
Veurne: sports shoes, jeans, black jacket and beige hat
The suspect made several withdrawals and purchases with this stolen bank card in the region of Veurne, Mouscron and Hondschoote, where he was also filmed by surveillance cameras.
- On 21-01-2023 Drongen : The suspect is probably 1m75-80 tall and was neatly dressed. He wore a half-length dark coat, white long pants, beige / gray sneakers with a pink stripe and a dark hat.
- On 22-01-2023 Veurne: The suspect wore the same sports shoes, the same half-length dark coat with a hood, gray long jeans, a black sweater with horizontal white stripes and a beige hat.
- On 23-01-2023 Mouscron : the suspect was wearing gray long trousers, the same sports shoes, the same half-length coat with hood and a beige hat.
