Internment for man who threatened Conner Rousseau with death

His lawyer confirms this. “My client realizes that he must be accompanied,” said lawyer Pieterjan Dens.

DK from Oostkamp was arrested earlier this year after he sent several death threats by email. He did that to Conner Rousseau and Steven Van Gucht, among others. The man has been in jail ever since, but an expert from the prosecutor’s office ruled that the man is not accountable.

He was due to appear in court on Tuesday. There, the prosecutor’s office requested the internment on the basis of the expert’s report. “We did not resist that,” says lawyer Pieterjan Dens. “My client realizes that he needs to be supervised. He is currently in the psychiatric ward of Ghent prison awaiting a place in a psychiatric institution.” It therefore does not lead to a trial in the criminal court.
