Nyon (dpa) – After the finals between European champions Italy and South American champions Argentina, intercontinental duels should also take place in women’s and youth football in the future.
The winner of the European Women’s Championship 2022 and the South American champion 2022 will play against each other in Europe on a date to be determined, as announced by the European Football Union UEFA.
On Wednesday, Italy and Argentina played out an intercontinental title holder again after a 29-year break, Argentina won 3-0. The UEFA Youth League winners and U20 Copa Libertadores winners are set to meet in Uruguay in August, with futsal scheduled to meet in September.
UEFA also announced that it would work more closely with the South American association Conmebol on the deployment and training of referees and the recognition of coaching qualifications.
