According to the interior administration, the Senate wants to leave the indoor swimming pools in Berlin open despite the energy crisis.

“To say it clearly: Our indoor pools are part of the public service and are not closed by the state of Berlin,” Interior and Sports Senator Iris Spranger (SPD) told the German Press Agency on Saturday. “Especially at the moment we need this important infrastructure for the people of Berlin, especially for children, senior citizens as well as our schools and clubs.” Of course, energy saving measures are already being implemented by the pool companies.

Spranger thus commented on the discussion about the closure of indoor swimming pools to save energy. The sports committee of the House of Representatives discussed the possibility of closing the indoor pools of Berlin’s bathing establishments should the energy crisis worsen.
