The Croatian winger could join the Nerazzurri as early as January, since the long injury in Dumfries forces the club to return to the market. Here’s who he is and how he plays
The path could almost be defined as D’Annunzio: born in Fiume, raised in Istria and, perhaps, Italy will be there for him too. We are talking about Moris Valincic, Inter’s latest target for the right wing not only of the future, but also of the present as an alternative to Norton-Cuffy if we don’t reach checkers with Genoa for the Englishman. Because the long injury in Dumfries (in the box for another 2-3 months after having already missed mid-November and December) forces Inter to relaunch themselves on the market in search of a replacement for the Dutchman. Then, in addition to the physical question, there is the one that leads to the market. And at the moment the thermometer of sensations says that next summer the farewell could really materialize. And so the Nerazzurri management has already launched itself into the search for a replacement who can take advantage of January to begin to fit into the group and lighten what will be the big impact if and when Dumfries says goodbye. One of the tracks traced in recent days leads to the name of Moris Valincic, Dinamo Zagreb’s surprise. A company with which Inter could take advantage of the excellent relations after the Sucic coup, built with similar methods no later than a year ago.
who is valincic
—
Clearly, as Dumfries’ potential alter ego, Moris Valincic is a right winger. However, with different characteristics compared to the Dutchman, because the Croatian – born in 2002, just turned 23 – contains more and pushes less than the former PSV Eindhoven player. A difference also due to a question of formation, since Inter plays consistently with the full-field 3-5-2 of the wingers while the formation most used by Dinamo Zagreb is a 4-3-3 in which the winger plays the purest full-back, coming up less frequently than the various Dumfries, Dimarco, Carlos Augusto, Luis Henrique. Valincic was born in Rijeka, today’s Rijeka. And that’s where he was born and raised in football: youth, Under 17, but never the first team. Because in 2018 a long wandering in Croatia begins. Opatija, Dinamo Zagreb youth team, Neretvanac. But real growth came outside the borders of his country, when he moved to the nearby Bosnia to Siroki Brijeg. The first season as a real protagonist but he still doesn’t convince Dinamo Zagreb to take him back, because Istra is the one who brings him home. Another excellent year and so yes, last summer Dinamo bought him back for just over a million euros. And the impact on the first team was immediately excellent. The appearance count, despite a recent injury, already shows 14 appearances, a couple of assists and the debut in the Europa League. Furthermore, despite not yet having made his debut with Modrid and co, Valincic has been pre-alerted by Zlatko Dalic – coach of the Croatian national team – for next summer’s World Cup. Better to get ahead of the curve, considering how international competitions can cause values on the revelation market to soar. And Inter is working precisely in this direction.
