Inter-Monaco 2-2 in a friendly match: goals from Gagliardini and Asllani

The Nerazzurri close the second summer test with a 2-2 in the sign of the two midfielders. Inzaghi enjoys new flashes of LuLa, still a starting game, and the return of the national teams, on the pitch in the final half hour

Confirmations, new ideas and several happy notes for Inzaghi in the second summer release of his Inter. Unlike the first test against Lugano, which they won easily, the Nerazzurri have to settle for a draw against a rival of higher rank and definitely ahead in their preparation like Monaco. At the Mazza di Ferrara it ends 2-2, with an Inter in trouble at times but driven by character and quality, first of all that of LuLa. But to shine in the test against the Monegasques is above all Asllani, who confirms the excellent impressions of the first outing in Lugano, seasoning the evening with a goal, that of the final draw after the double advantage in the first half hour signed by Golovin-Ben Yadder. Little half an hour of play for the internationals, as well as for Dzeko and Onana. Before kick-off, from the stands of Mazza new chants addressed to Marotta with the usual request already shouted on the day of the presentation of the first jersey: “Bring us Dybala”.

Unpublished defense

In Ferrara there are five missing, namely Skriniar, Mulattieri, Salcedo, Pinamonti and Sanchez, all of whom remained in Appiano because they more or less smelled of greetings. The rest of the group, on the other hand, is all under the orders of Inzaghi, who, however, does not immediately send the national teams onto the field. The occasion is therefore good to insist on the favorite tactical design, the 3-5-2, and above all on the rediscovered LuLa, on the running-in of the brand new lanes with Gosens and Bellanova and on the inclusion of new reinforcements in the middle of the field, Asllani and Mkhitaryan. In fact, only two changes in the initial eleven compared to the previous exit against Lugano, with the insertions of Dimarco and Gagliardini in place of Fontanarosa and Agoumé. But the test turns out to be far more challenging, because the Monaco has more leg and it shows. The Nerazzurri pay the difference in pace and rhythm, dance behind with the new trio Darmian-D’Ambrosio-Dimarco and go under after 8 ‘with the complicity of the full-back from Campania, for the occasion deployed in the center of the defense. The Golovin-Ben Yadder axis hits again at half an hour, this time with the hand of Darmian and Bellanova. Yet Inzaghi’s troop starts spinning the ball, takes the ball in the game and begins to reverse the inertia of the challenge before the rest, when Gagliardini’s winning paw arrives (scrum goal) followed by Lukaku’s first threatening attempts.

Running in

The recovery starts following the same script of the first 20 ‘, with an Inter struggling to try to contain the enveloping maneuver of the Monegasques renewed by ten elevenths. But the Nerazzurri still come out at a distance thanks to a slightly more advanced midfield line and the impact force of the LuLa. Asllani’s draw in the 60th minute was born from an overwhelming cue from the award-winning company up front and the Mazza public showed their appreciation. In the last half hour there was also space for Onana, Correa and the many national teams who returned on Wednesday, from Barella, Dumfries and De Vrij to Calha, Bastoni and Dzeko (the latter with two more days of training on his legs). The Nerazzurri are close to success with an attempt by Calha, but also risk big on an initiative by Minamino that allows Onana to show off and snatch the first applause from his new fans.

Happy notes

The most comforting feedback came again from Asllani, a catalyst for balls and always in the heart of the game in the role of low director. The Albanian also puts a lot of personality into it and, although he suffers from the close man marking, he also finds the joy of scoring with a perfect crossed left. Some problems, however, for the other two new arrivals on the pitch from the beginning, Bellanova and Mkhitaryan: the former Cagliari stammered especially in the coverage phase, while the Armenian remained on the sidelines. Still flashes from LuLa, which always exhibits the understanding of the good times. The Bull is more perky and quick to attack the spaces, the Belgian instead breaks through every time he presses on the accelerator. It is no coincidence that Asllani’s equalizer comes from a Big Rom initiative that was barely contained by the opposing goalkeeper.
