The huge number of players expiring on June 30th – namely Acerbi, De Vrij, Darmian and Mkhitaryan in addition to the Swiss goalkeeper – guarantees a significant reduction in the wage bill. And the chance to invest
Sommer saves, De Vrij rejects, Acerbi throws, Darmian shoots, Mkhitaryan pots in: and so all the players whose contracts are expiring provide a great assist for Inter on the transfer market. Because the huge number of non-renewals of contracts expiring on June 30th will constitute an enormous advantage – at least in economic terms – for the Nerazzurri club, which from one year to the next will lower the general salary by around 14 million euros net. Which rises to almost 30 when calculated gross. The Swiss goalkeeper receives 2.5 million a year like Darmian, Acerbi one and a half, same amount for Mkhitaryan and De Vrij which stands at 3.8 for each. Total: 14 million and 100 thousand euros. Net. Not bad, considering that the employment of the expiring protagonists has gradually decreased more and more with the passage of time, transforming their status from pillars to followers. Precious yes, protagonists of Inter’s great rides in recent years too, but no longer indispensable. The only exception could be represented by the Dutch defender, however closer to farewell than to renewal: a glimmer of hope could only open up if De Vrij decided (at least) to halve his salary, but the history of Oaktree’s policy on the Nerazzurri market teaches that the club’s investments are unlikely to veer in a different direction with respect to Under 25 profiles (Akanji the only exception, for the rest the 22-year-olds Sucic, Diouf and Bonny, the 24 year old Luis Henrique and the 2005 born Pio Esposito who returned to base from his loan to Spezia).
and the transfers?

The amount potentially saved by Inter could also increase if the names of those who will probably say goodbye next summer are taken into consideration, regardless of contractual issues. That is to say Luis Henrique and Frattesi almost certainly, Josep Martinez and Diouf still uncertain, Bastoni if Barcelona were to match Inter’s requests for their defender. Any transfers of the latter would lower the wage bill even more significantly, but above all they would bring fresh air into the Nerazzurri coffers. And, at that point, Inter would have the opportunity to indulge themselves in the summer transfer market. Start, build and complete the revolution that is scheduled for the next few months.
