Inter, Lautaro and Thuram with 30 goals in Serie A after Salernitana

The Argentine is the third Inter player in history to score 20 goals for three seasons in a row in Serie A, his teammate is the club’s second Frenchman in double figures in the league: so Inzaghi can dream

Between one and the other, only 86 seconds. This was enough for Inter to launch the right and left hooks, knocking out a Salernitana team who made a slightly better impression than the sparring partners of an evening in the Giuseppe Meazza ring: on the one hand personal and team records are written, on the other they take blows – badly – while remaining in the corner. Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez set the table at San Siro for the Nerazzurri’s binge with two goals in quick succession and returned to scoring in the same match as had not happened for just over a month, since Monza-Inter on 13 January: now Together, Simone Inzaghi’s spearheads have 30 goals in the championship. And they are thus preparing to export their first fruits in the Champions League, on Tuesday against Atlético Madrid.

In strict chronological order of marking, the French international broke the deadlock in the 17th minute of a match that was just waiting for the saber to release the bubbles: Inter had shaken the bottle from the first seconds, had hit a post with Marcus and the crossbar with Nicolò Barella. Beyond the amount of play, however, you need to score: the former Borussia Monchengladbach man took care of it, thanking Carlos Augusto’s assist and scoring his 12th goal of the season, reaching double figures in Serie A as he had managed so far only to an Inter compatriot. It was Youri Djorkaeff (14 rings in 1996-1997), who precedes him together with David Trezeguet as the Transalpine capable of reaching double figures after 24 days of the Italian championship. Thuram entertains, has fun and scores: and to think that before arriving at Inter he was still adapting to the transition from winger to second striker…

Eighty-six seconds later, in fact, the Bull: long throw-in in the 19th minute, collective sleep by Salernitana and precise ball into the net at the far post. Double place in the record archive also for the Argentine, who seemed tired in recent outings: he became the third Nerazzurri with three consecutive championships with 20 goals and also occupied eighth place overall among scorers alone all-time of Inter’s history, separating his predecessor Mauro Icardi. In all there are 125 goals, with a goal in Lecce next Sunday he would reach 100 goals in Serie A. Then, at the end of the match, he also spoke about his contract: “We are on the right path, the details are missing. It’s not easy. There’s no rush to renew since it expires in a year and a half, I’m calm.” It’s been a long time: first there’s Atlético Madrid in the Champions League, which Inzaghi will face with the 30-plus pair in attack.
