Homeowners in Groningen and Noord-Drenthe can apply for a subsidy from 2 September to insulate and ventilate their home to the insulation standard. Up to and including 4 August 2026, a number of zip codes are released every month. After that, everyone can apply for the subsidy. On isolatie.Nijbegun.nl, homeowners can view when they can apply for the subsidy. With the insulation approach Nij Begun, investments will be made in the next ten years in the insulation and ventilation of homes in Groningen and Northern Drenthe.
The subsidy is part of the broader insulation approach Nij Begun. It is one of Nij Begun’s measures and part of the compensation of the consequences of gas extraction. The insulation approach ensures a well -insulated and healthy house and a lower energy bill. And it contributes to a better environment. Moreover, it is more than just a subsidy. Who is the insulation approach for?
The insulation approach is for homeowners in the province of Groningen and in the North Drentse municipalities of Noordenveld, Aa and Hunze and Tynaarlo. The amount of the subsidy depends on the location of the home and/or the aggregate income of the homeowner. On isolatie.nijbegun.nl You can see who can use the insulation approach, what the maximum reimbursements are and what the postcode phasing is. For tenants this goes through the private landlord or housing association. Housing corporations in the region receive a contribution of € 222 million for insulating and ventilating their homes. This also gives tenants a well -insulated and healthy home and a lower energy bill.
Sufficient time and enough money
There is enough time and money for anyone who is eligible for this subsidy. The subsidy is available until 3 June 2035. After granting the subsidy, homeowners have two years to carry out the work. The Northern Netherlands partnership (SNN) deals with applications.
The isolation plan provides insight into the best measures
An insulation advisor of Nij Begun makes an insulation plan for the home. The plan is simple, free and gives well-founded advice to homeowners which insulation and ventilation measures are needed to get the standard. Good ventilation is needed to prevent fungus in the home, among other things. A home meets the standard if it is sufficiently insulated to become natural gas -free. The insulation plan is not always mandatory.
Support with every step
From the moment the subsidy counter opens on 2 September, homeowners can get a free help from an insulation supporter. For example, by finding an insulation adviser, making a financial overview, choosing the measures and applying for the subsidy. The first insulation advisors and supporters start in September 2025.
Together we are facing a large and unique task
There may be some waiting time, especially at the start of the approach. The insulation approach Nij Begun is grand, new and unique in the Netherlands. It also offers opportunities for (local) entrepreneurs. It concerns a total of around 300,000 (rental) homes. This means work in progress: especially in the initial phase, probably not everything runs from an ‘insulated roof’. The organization monitors the approach and implementation to improve it where necessary.
