Institute of Sports Law will investigate match fixing hockey | Sport

Laren and Bloemendaal decided last Sunday in the final phase of the game to let the clock run down at 4-3 without continuing to play. With this score, the teams had enough to stay in the main league, Ring Pass Delft was relegated as a result and speaks of match fixing.

The KNHB said it “regrets” the course of events. In its own words, the association decided in June 2021 to transfer the disciplinary proceedings of doping and match-fixing cases to ISR. According to the association, the institute is the independent party within the sport in the field of match fixing.

There is great anger among the board and players of the Delft club about the disappointing outcome of the competition. “The investigation must focus on the question of whether the match has been manipulated and therefore mutual agreements have been made in advance about the result,” the board writes. “The media paid a lot of attention to the way this match went. The frustrations with our team are therefore very understandable.”

The club also refers on its site to something “that preceded it earlier in the competition”. This is probably about an earlier relegation duel between Bloemendaal and Laren with a suspicious result.
