What are you currently researching?

My focus is on human-computer interaction, i.e. how people interact with digital systems. I deal with topics such as user experience, usability and accessibility but also with front-end development.

I am currently working on two third-party funded projects. At the Digital Learning Campus (DLC) we are committed to rethinking digital education in Schleswig-Holstein. The DLC is a nationwide innovation project. The aim is to develop learning opportunities that give everyone access to future skills. I am particularly concerned with the question of how digital learning environments can be designed to be barrier-free, usable and motivating. The Modular Network Security (MoNeSi) project is about developing a training kit for network management personnel in order to better understand and avert security risks in decentralized energy networks.

How does your work contribute to solving practical challenges and creating innovations for the Hansebelt region?

I want to design digital technologies so that they are accessible and usable for all users. In a region like the Hanseatic Belt, this means developing practical and inclusive solutions. With projects like the Digital Learning Campus (DLC), we promote digital participation and thus strengthen innovative strength in the region.

What exactly do you see as the added value of projects that combine practice and research?

The direct exchange with practice ensures that scientific findings flow into real applications and, conversely, practical experience brings new research impulses. This makes the results more sustainable, more applicable and often more creative.

What helps you personally to implement new ideas and innovations?

I work in a very usage-centered manner and keep the needs of the users in mind. For me, close exchange with users is the best innovation method. Plus, the best ideas come when people from different backgrounds work together.

Why is Lübeck University of Technology right for you?

I am a native of Lübeck and have already completed my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the TH Lübeck. After completing my studies, I had the opportunity to work as a research assistant at the Institute for Interactive Systems at THL and it quickly became clear that I wanted to stay. I am particularly excited about the great work in the team and the many different topics here.
