While large clothing and accessory brands are often difficult for their sustainability efforts (since their size makes them inflexible or their business model is designed for overproduction), small and younger labels have easier: they were part of the program from the start. Such a company is the Italian pocket label Miomojo, which produces vegan bags from various material innovations. In its latest impact report, the brand reports on its achievements last year.

“We have researched new, even more innovative materials, expanded our partnerships and realized extraordinary cooperation. From sports with Udinese Calcio to direct activism with Sea Shepherd to our cooperation with AIPD and Humana,” summarizes founder Claudia Pievani.

The brand’s sustainability strategy rests on four pillars: man and social justice, materials and innovations, the environment and climate as well as activism and responsibility.

Materials and innovations

In 2024, 50 percent of the Miomojo materials were bio -based, won from agricultural waste such as orange, olive, bamboo and rice; 32 percent came from recycled sources and 13 percent of certified natural fibers. Five percent of “brave innovations” such as Myzel, grape, tea and marble were.

The brand launched a total of four collections, each of which is built up by one material. “Every material is a statement. We do not choose the convenient. We choose the right thing,” is the brand’s motto.

Environment and climate

In 2024, the brand used sustainable flight petrol (SAF) for 27 percent of its air freight with the DHL Gogreen plus program. As a result, CO₂ intensity fell by 24.7 percent.

“We reduced business trips, preferred trains, elected Economy Class – even on long -haul flights. We have reconsidered every logistical decision and started with the introduction of reusable shipping packaging,” reports Miomojo.

Activism and responsibility

According to the motto “It is not enough to cause damage, you have to take a position” Miomojo has donated 10 percent of the profit to organizations that protect animals, biodiversity and human rights since its foundation.

In 2024, the label, together with Sea Shepherd, started the “Guardian: inside of the sea” campaign and the Seaqual Initiative: a limited gift box, made from yarn made of recycled sea sculpture. 20 percent of the income was donated to the environmental protection organization, which thus protects the Mediterranean octopus and the ecosystem that depends on it. Miomojo also supports Four Paws, Save the Dogs, Animal Equality, Capra Libera Tutti and Peta.

People and social justice

In the past few years, Miomojo donated over 2,000 products to Oxfam and thus collected more than 112,000 euros for projects that are devoted to access to clean water for over 11,000 people in Yemen, as well as educational, health and agricultural programs for vulnerable communities.

The label started an inclusion path with the Italian Down Syndrome Association AIPD and added the new employee Giulia to the team. Miomojo’s vision was also presented at universities such as Bocconi, Iulm, Bicocca and Cattolica in order to offer a different perspective.

Collaborations

Cooperation for the label last year there was three areas that go beyond the fashion industry: in the sports area with a sports capsule made of olive material with the Italian football club Udinese Calcio, in the world of mobility with a travel bag made of rice developed together with Porsche Bergamo, as well as in tourism with gift ideas for hotels and wineries.

In addition, the cooperation with the non-profit organization Humana People to People Italy, which has been converting second-hand clothing into social and ecological values since 2016, will ensure that accessories from previous collections find a new life in Humana shops.

What does the future look like for Miomojo?

This year the label will be present for the first time with Peta USA at the Emmy Awards.

Likewise, the planned Miomojo Foundation should be a place where innovation, education and care come together, where various animal -free materials are presented and animals are saved, the students: inside and students can discover.

Miomojo was founded in 2014 by Pievani in Bergamo: “We have committed ourselves from the beginning to create a new business paradigm in which profits and positive effects are inextricably linked. As a borporation and leading economy, we believe that companies should be managed in such a way that they promote the well -being of people, all living things and nature. to avoid damage and use it for everyone, ”explains Pievani.
