An American who was sentenced 31 years ago to life in prison was released on Wednesday. Thomas Raynard James, 55, was found guilty of murder after a robbery in 1991 on the basis of one eyewitness. This witness, after decades, came back on her statement and acknowledged “maybe he made a mistake”. The judge subsequently ruled that James was innocent.
