Injured in explosion in Oosterwolde flat, residents evacuated

In a house in the Frisian Oosterwolde there was an explosion at the beginning of the evening. One person suffered burns and went to hospital independently after the incident.

According to Omrop Friesland it concerns a gas explosion on the second floor of a flat on the Gijenham. There are thirteen homes in the building.

The explosion caused cracks in the walls. The building is evacuated. The twenty residents have been temporarily accommodated in the town hall. It is still being considered where they will spend the night.

Firefighters deployed several units to evacuate the building and determine the cause of the explosion. A special team has also been called up to map out the risks of collapse. There is still a cat in one of the houses and there are a few other pets in the flats. That’s why the animal ambulance has also been called.

The cause of the suspected gas explosion is not clear.
