Infineon shares fall: Infineon acquires ultra-wideband pioneer 3db Access

Infineon Technologies is completely acquiring the Zurich startup company 3db Access, a specialist in energy-efficient ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, for an undisclosed purchase price.

Infineon is thus supplementing its connectivity technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC, the company said in a statement.

UWB allows data transmission over short distances at high data rates. Initial applications include secured access and authentication, enabling indoor device navigation and presence detection. 3db Access is already the preferred IP provider for leading automobile manufacturers.

The Infineon share was temporarily trading 0.21 percent lower at 31.22 euros via XETRA.
