IndyCar hero Colton Herta does not want to enter Formula 1 as an ‘exception case’ Sport

Herta has been causing a furore in IndyCar for several years, but cannot just make the switch to Formula 1. He has not yet collected enough points to qualify for a racing license in Formula 1. That is why Red Bull asked for an exemption, but the international motorsport federation FIA rejected the request. It looks like the Dutchman Nyck de Vries now getting the spot at AlphaTauri.

“I understand the FIA’s position from the current points structure. Personally, I think the points rating for IndyCar is too low,” said Herta. “I had opportunities to earn extra points by racing in other classes, but I’ve been a professional driver for four years and haven’t even considered it.”
