Indy Dontje on pole after qualifying thriller

The qualifying for Sunday’s race of the ADAC GT4 Germany at the Sachsenring could hardly be surpassed in terms of tension. The lead kept changing between the two championship aspirants Indy Dontje (Dörr Motorsport) and Hugo Sasse (Prosport Racing). In the end, the Dutchman in the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 finished ahead of his brand colleague by just under 0.063 seconds.

“I didn’t notice any of this drama in the cockpit because I was only concentrating on our car. My lap was definitely top”, says Dontje, who starts together with Phil Dörr, about the time of 1:25.522 minutes. “It’s my second pole position this year. It shows that we’re in a good position as a team and also have a chance of winning the championship.”

As the fastest driver in qualifying, Dontje also received the pole position award and received a tire voucher worth 500 euros from Daniel Olbrich (Head of Trade Marketing Car Germany at Pirelli).

Ben Dörr and Romain Leroux (Dörr Motorsport) in another Aston Martin completed the top 5.

The Sunday race of the ADAC GT4 Germany at the Sachsenring will start at 4:25 p.m. and will be broadcast live on adac.de/motorsport and on sport.de. “I hope that I’ll hand the car over to Phil while I’m in first place. We’re both fast. Victory is the goal,” says pole setter Donjte, looking forward to the race.
