Industrial production continues to rise in June with a rise of 6.4%

The Industrial production in Spain it increased in June by 6.4% compared to the same month of 2021, the second consecutive rebound after a month of May in which it had recorded the highest rise in eleven months (6.9%).

According to the industrial production index (IPI) published this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the increase in June was driven by increases in the production of energy (14.5%) and capital goods (10.5 %).

The production of consumer goods also increased, by 6%with greater intensity in non-durables (6.1%) than in durables (5.3%), but the manufacture of intermediate goods fell by 0.7%.

The detail of the branches of activity reveals that the greatest increases in production were registered in lto manufacturing of motor vehicles (26%), coking plants and oil refining (22.8%), clothing manufacturing (16.9%), electricity supply (15.9%), graphic arts (11.3%) and the footwear industry (11, 1%).

Instead, metallurgy (10%), extractive industries (6.5%), the manufacture of electrical material and equipment (2.2%), the manufacture of machinery and equipment (2.1%) and the chemical industry (0.5%).

Only three autonomous communities reduced their industrial production in June -La Rioja (4.7%), Cantabria (3.4%) and Castilla y León (2.2%)-, while the increases were led by the Balearic Islands (32.9%) and, to a lesser measure, Castilla-La Mancha (14.6%) and Aragón (12.5%).

After correcting the data for seasonal and calendar effects, industrial production increased by 7% compared to June 2021, a rate 2.5 points higher than that of May.

Also in corrected terms, the increase in the IPI is explained by the good performance of energy production (14.4%) and capital goods (10.8%), as well as consumer goods (7.1%), while that the manufacture of intermediate goods remained practically unchanged, with an advance of 0.1%.

Regarding the monthly evolution, the corrected industrial production increased by 1.1% compared to May, one point more than the previous month and the third consecutive month of growth.
