Indonesia refused to supply Su-35 for $ 1.1 billion due to lack of money – RBK

Instead of Russian fighters, the country will buy French Dassault Rafale and American F-15 EX

The Indonesian authorities refused to purchase 11 multifunctional Russian Su-35 fighters due to lack of budgetary funds. This was stated by the chief of staff of the country’s Air Force Fajar Praseto, CNN Indonesia reports.

“With a heavy heart, we are forced to abandon the plan to buy Su-35 fighters, because, as we initially said, the development of aviation is very dependent on the budget,” he said.

At the same time, Prasetio said that Indonesia would buy French Dassault Rafale and American F-15 EX fighters instead of the Su-35. According to him, the first American fighter will be delivered to Indonesia approximately in 2027.

Indonesia struck a $ 1.1 billion deal to supply 11 Russian Su-35s in February 2018.
