India train disaster: at least 288 dead and 1,000 injured after head-on collision

The death toll from the train crash in eastern India continues to rise: at least 288 people have died. That says Sudhanshu Sarangi, head of the Odisha state fire service, to the French news agency ‘AFP’. More than 1,000 people are injured. There are fears that the established number of fatalities and injuries will rise even further.
