“Incredibly proud”: DHB team celebrates after the European Championship gala

The German handball players secured their ticket to the European Championship semi-finals with a top performance against France. There was plenty of praise for match winner Juri Knorr in particular.

I was incredibly proud of the boys the whole time and how the defense stood. The first half was phenomenal, but in attack we stood or played very, very well the whole game. I’m really happy about the great performance from everyone. From all players. And of course a great performance from Juri, who helped us extremely with his speed. Very proud of the team. What maturity we showed, what a fantastic performance, especially across the board, that just someone who hadn’t found the tournament so well so far set a fantastic tone and today everyone did their part to help us win.
Yes, he was outstanding. He carried our attack from the middle of the first to the middle of the second half. He ensured that we kept our distance from the French and were able to consistently keep them to four or five goals. I’m just happy for him that he made or had this explosion and was able to show people that he’s not a bad handball player. Today was one of those days when sometimes everything works. Sometimes you can’t explain why today is Sunday and I’m not. In the last few games. But I’m happy that it happened today. It’s a European Championship semi-final, no matter which opponent comes. We’ll throw everything we’ve got back into it. Give 150% that we get to the final.
I’m very, very happy to be in the semi-finals. And of course we want to get to the final.
