Much waste from carnival will not be collected on Wednesday in Den Bosch, Altena, Vught, Heusden, Bernheze and Oisterwijk. The city cleaning staff will go on strike for a week from that day. Trade union FNV, which is organizing the strike, warns against this.

Due to the strike, both household waste and industrial waste are not being collected. The strikers are aware that their strike will cause nuisance. The municipality of Den Bosch therefore calls on residents to produce as little waste as possible during the strike or to take it away themselves. “You can take your waste to the Treurenburg environmental station at the applicable rates”, can be read on the website.

Better Collective Labor Agreement
The civil servants are striking for a better collective labor agreement. They want higher wages and compensation for next year’s inflation. Garbage collection services have been on strike for some time now. Each time it is the turn of other municipalities where the work is laid down.

On Thursday, FNV members will meet on the Markt in Maastricht, where there will also be a strike. The strikes follow a six-day strike in Rotterdam that ends on Monday.

Incidentally, an exception is made: if emergency services get into trouble because waste is in the way, the city cleaning service will clear it up. Small, chemical and hazardous waste is also still collected from companies.
